Hugh Grant is set to roar as Tony the Tiger

According to Empire Magazine, Grant takes on the role of a “disgruntled Shakespearean actor” reluctantly donning the iconic Tony the Tiger persona in Seinfeld’s directorial debut. Seinfeld expressed his excitement about Grant’s casting, revealing, “That was the greatest part of the whole thing, honestly, because I am a crazy fan of his.” The comedian even shrugged off concerns about the British actor giving the famous cereal mascot a British accent, stating, “No, who cares?”

Empire Magazine shared a sneak peek of Grant in the Tony the Tiger costume, giving fans a glimpse of the upcoming cereal-themed comedy.

“Unfrosted: The Pop-Tart Story” unfolds in 1963 Michigan, portraying the intense rivalry between Kellogg’s and Post as they race to create a breakfast pastry that changes the morning game. Seinfeld, who also stars as a Kellogg’s boss, describes the film as a tale of “ambition, betrayal, sugar, and menacing milkmen.”

The star-studded cast includes Melissa McCarthy, Jim Gaffigan, Amy Schumer, Max Greenfield, Christian Slater, Bill Burr, Daniel Levy, James Marsden, Jack McBrayer, Thomas Lennon, Bobby Moynihan, Adrian Martinez, Sarah Cooper, and Fred Armisen. Seinfeld quipped about assembling the ensemble, saying, “Everybody I asked said ‘yes,’ so we ended up with this crazy cast.”

Seinfeld co-wrote the script with Spike Feresten, Barry Marder, and Andy Robin. Feresten and Beau Beauman handle production duties, while Robin, Marder, and Cherylanne Martin serve as executive producers.

Having been filmed in 2022 in Los Angeles, “Unfrosted: The Pop-Tart Story” will make its debut on Netflix in the United States on May 3, 2024. Brace yourselves for a breakfast-themed blast from the past with Seinfeld and Grant at the helm.
