Richard Lewis, Comedian and Star of Curb Your Enthusiasm, dies at 76


Beloved stand-up comedian and “Curb Your Enthusiasm” star, Richard Lewis, has passed away at 76. His publicist, Jeff Abraham, confirmed that he died at his Los Angeles home after a heart attack. Lewis had disclosed his battle with Parkinson’s disease in April. His wife, Joyce Lapinsky, thanked everyone for their support and requested privacy.

Lewis, known for his dark humor and iconic all-black attire, rose to fame in the ’80s and ’90s with stand-up specials and late-night appearances. He starred in the sitcom “Anything but Love” alongside Jamie Lee Curtis and became a staple on “Curb Your Enthusiasm” from 2000, playing a fictionalized version of himself. Larry David, creator of the show, mourned the loss of his lifelong friend, recalling their contentious teenage years and eventual friendship in the New York comedy scene.
